THREE MOVIES -- TWO LEGENDARY COMEDIANS -- ONE CONCERT

Charlie Chaplin

In the early days of cinema, short one- and two-reel movies were a common feature. This was especially true of comedies.

Of the great movie comedians, two stood out as legends. The first was Charlie Chaplin, with his famous character, “The Tramp," a hapless, penniless vagabond who used his inventive mischief to get into and out of trouble in hilarious ways. The latter was Buster Keaton, playing A stone-faced young man who seemed to fall into trouble wherever he went and did what he could to overcome the obstacles. Both soon went on to produce full-length feature films, but their early shorts remain examples of physical comedy at its best.

Buster Keaton

The Grand Feature film orchestra is proud to present three short films from the legends of silent comedy!

Keaton's The Scarecrow (1920) - 19 minutes
Two best friends fall into a bitter love triangle as they both meet the same girl of their dreams.

Chaplin's The Rink (1916) - 24 minutes
The Tramp takes a job as a waiter in a posh restaurant. His clumsiness soon gets him into trouble, but his graceful skating skills impress a young lady at a nearby roller rink.

Keaton's One Week (1920) - 19 minutes
A newlywed couple decides to build their dream house from a do-it-yourself kit. It becomes a hilarious undertaking!

All three movies demonstrate the deft skill of these master filmmakers. Their stunning live-action physical comedy went on to inspire many animated productions, such as Warner Bros' LOONEY TUNES.

All three movies will be presented with a LIVE orchestra in the theater, The Grand Feature Film Orchestra!

Featuring our one-and-only AIR-O-RAMA Pneumatic Sound Effects Machine for the first time!
